This website was designed and developed within a very short time scale after the organizers decided that their special Everest to Antarctica event deserved a dedicated site of it’s own. The website echos the design of the event poster, as designed by Tom Whalen. The event organizers decided that this event needed a dedicated website in order to provide more content to the public about what the event will entail, displaying video clips and imagery from Paul and Felicity’s encounters.

KGB had two main ambitions for their website. 1 – Let the fans know what’s happening with KGB, where they’ll be, how to buy tracks and how to stay in touch. 2 – Help new fans, potential collaborators and concert hosts find out about KGB, their back-story, and the type of music they produce.

The KGB website will be a living organism, with the band’s manager keeping on top of the news, photos and videos. This meant that the website had to be created in a manner that allowed the manager to update these pages without having to know the ins-and-outs of web development. With the help of the WordPress Content Management System, KGB will be able to keep their website fresh, and put up new photos, music, videos and concert dates without having to come to me every time they have an update to make.

This server is particularly useful for safely storing all my important files, my family photos and my music collection. All my data is saved centrally on the server, and if any of the hard disk drives were to fail, the unRAID OS ensures that I can replace the hard drive without any data loss.

My new server has 8.5 Terabytes of storage, 8 Gigabytes of RAM and a Intel i3 3.06Ghz processor. This is probably overkill for my needs, but I’m trying my best to future-proof myself. The last thing my bank balance needs is another server build in 2 years time.

Melanie Lark Design was previously called Refine & Redesign Interiors, but Melanie decided she wanted to rename her company and update the brand. Melanie’s website was updated to represent the new company name, and the site was also transferred from the old domain name to a new domain.

Melissa Defren, the owner of Plantscapes Interiors came to me with a request to design and create a small website to show potential customers what Plantscapes Interiors can offer. Specifically, Melissa wanted users to be able to see photographs of the array of plants available and she also wanted an interactive element, in which her customers can leave testimonials for potential customers to see.

Also, I worked on integrating her website with the Plantscapes Interiors Facebook page, optimizing the site content to improve her Google ranking and I also provide the hosting for Melissa, which allows me to deal with any technical issues that may occur during the lifespan of her website.

I decided a fresh approach was required as my portfolio grew, but this was another important project as it allowed me to expand my skill-set, and my customer base, in one fell swoop.

The brief for this project was to create a clean, usable and informative website for a brand new interior refinement business. Refine & Redesign already owned their own domain name and hosting space, so my brief was simply to create a website that effectively showcased the services and talents that Refine & Redesign Interiors can offer.

The most challenging aspect of this project was to ensure that visitors found the site easy-to-use while effectively presenting the work of Refine & Redesign. After working very closely with my client, the result is a successful website that they are now proud to call home.

Refine & Redesign Interiors has since undergone a rebrand and is now called Melanie Lark Design.

During my time on the team, I was given the chance to take on a role as lead developer on a major North American sales event. I also worked on the website for the British Airways Small to Medium Enterprise loyalty scheme, OnBusiness. My work at British Airways was highly focused on presenting new information online, whilst maintaining the aesthetics of the superb BA brand.
